Rachel – 60th Birthday Party, Mental Health Reserve
Thank you so much. The guys were outstanding in the way they approached things, entertained and listened. Bouba and Ekow, thank you. Everybody was and still is raving about you!
Just wanted to touch base and say a huge thank you for the amazing awesome display put on by your guys at my 50th on Saturday. They had everybody joining in, even my mum and dad and the other “oldies.” So much great feedback from people and I know there are 2 people at least that want to book you for parties, so that’s great. It’s been an absolute pleasure making my drum and have you come and make my 50th a day to remember
Thank you so much- my drum has arrived.
I just wanted to say it is so much more than I thought.
It is beautiful and in great condition.
But more importantly It sounds sooooooo good!
Many thanks again

The African Drumming and African Dancing workshops were magnificent and Bouba and Shabba worked very well with the students.
– St Monica’s College July 2014
Louise Horgen –
Bouba was amazing. The workshops were fantastic and I’ve had positive feedback from students and teachers alike. At the end of the senior student’s workshop they clearly wanted it not to end and were asking Bouba for another dance. Thank you for organising such a competent and engaging musician.
– Ghilgai School June 2014
Rebecca Barker –
Thanks heaps for organising Ousmane for our African Ensemble. He is awesome, the girls had such a great time and we learnt so much in our first session
We had 2 wonderful sessions with Shabba. He was quite late on the first session (we had to change another our music program to later b/c of it). The second session he was early. The children thought he was very funny and loved the drums. Overall a great experience and we will book him again for next year.

Doug Simpson –
Now that I have an understanding of the basic ensemble structure I feel a lot more confident to teach. It will become a richer experience and give respect to the traditional music rather than becoming just a noisy, unstructured jam.
– Perth Teacher Training July 2nd
Bruce Gowlett –
I expect to take the skills and knowledge gained and use them to help in developing communication and teamwork amongst young people with disabilities… Jeremy did an excellent job as a trainer/facilitator — he ensured the group was stretched, challenged, energised, enthused, encouraged and engaged.

I recommend African Drumming to everyone. Do a couple of 6 week courses and you’ll be planning your first trip to West Africa or at the very least booking another 6 week course! It gets you like that.
– Ekomé Tour 17th July
” I’d like to follow that up by congratulating you and your team for running such a well organized, professional camp. The teaching, the venue and the organization was first class. Bali at this time of year was a perfect backdrop and, of course , we were blessed with the weather”
– Bali Drum camp
Robyn Young –
Mady and Shabba did an awesome job today. The clients enjoyed all aspects of the performance. I thought they may be a little hesitant about the dance but they loved it and all participated. Thank you again for your performances and we will keep you details on file for future holiday programs.
- Melbourne Youth Justice Centre- June 2014
It was outstanding. Team loved it. And the facilitator went to just the right level of context on various elements of the process – background, links to work settings etc. Would highly recommend it and do it again!

I just wanted to say a big thank you from all the students and staff at Kamaruka for our African drumming program. Today we had our final African drumming performance and it was absolutely amazing! As you know we work with children and adolescents diagnosed with developmental disorders such as ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome so they can be more challenging to work with than typically developing students. Kofi did such an excellent job with our students and I did not ever imagine that they would be able to play the drums so well. He is a really great teacher and I know that each week the students really looked forward to working with him.
Thank you once again!
– Kamaruka (Melbourne)
- Matt McKeone (Department of Human Services)
Thanks for organising the guys at our event yesterday.
They were amazing and exceeded our expectations. Everyone loved them.
We had a professional photographer there who got some great snaps of the guys.
( 18 Nov, DHS Making a Difference Awards Zinc Federation Square)
Bouba was fantastic and very engaging! He was on time and able to draw out even the shyest of guests. It was a very successful evening with the drumming the highlight of it all. I would recommend it to anyone who is considering it and a few of my friends have taken contact details for future parties.
Joanne – Teacher Training
Loved it, loved it, loved it! Every minute was relevant, stimulating and delivered with integrity, skill
and passion (thanks Simon!)
Theresa – Teacher Training, Sunshine College
Firstly I have to say I had a fantastic experience on the Level 1 course on Thursday and Friday evening. Simon explained the rhythms clearly and was engaging. I have already tried some of the rhythms with my Year 7 class and they are loving being challenged. I wouldn’t change anything about the course, I am definitely interested in doing Level 2 and 3 later on in the year.
Jessica Lewis – Buckets ELC, Bentleigh East
Thank you for coming out to our Bentleigh East centre – The children and educators had a wonderful time. I received lots of positive feedback from families and educators at the service because of the unique incursion that you provide, the energy you possessed on the day and catering the program so it was age appropriate. It was a great day and we’d love to have you back at the service one day.
Amy – Olympic Village Preschool
The African drumming was a huge success and Shabba was a great fit. The children loved it and have been talking about it ever since. I have also recommended your company to many colleagues.
Monica – Woady Yaloak Kindergarten
We had a wonderful time with Shabba, we danced, sang, laughed and drummed until our hands tingled. The feedback from the children was very positive and they were particularly interested in the photos and information about life in Ghana.
Di – Footscray North Primary
The drumming was fantastic!!! Both staff and kids loved them. We have a drumming group at our school so it was great for those kids but for all kids. It was great to have it during our Harmony Week celebrations so i will look into it for next year.
Karen – Roxburgh Park School
The feedback was over whelming! Your performers were adored by students, staff and parents! I have had so many people tell me how fabulous the whole day was! Teachers told me the students were engaged and so well controlled by the presenters – they had them eating out of the palm of their hand! Parents loved the performances at the end of the day as well. It was also noted how easy and organised the guys were, they just hit the ground running with set-up ect. All very positive! Thank you so much for such a successful day, we will be booking you again in the future for sure.
Heidi English – Cancer Council Victoria
Bouba was a complete hit! We absolutely adored having him perform at the staff meeting. He had everyone dancing and he was engaging and funny. What a delightful way to kick off Cultural Diversity week. Thank you again for your organising this special occasion. We will definitely be recommending this to the greater community and organisation.
Tim – Carey Baptist Grammar
I have been really pleased with what Bouba achieved with our students. It was aimed at their level, was engaging and appropriate. The students really took a shine to Bouba and worked well for him – they were sad to see him leave. Please pass on my thanks to Bouba for his fine work and I look forward to catching up again. Thank you also for your great oversight of the program too, Simon; it is so refreshing to have someone who is highly organized and immediately contactable.
Sophie – Kid's Birthday Party
Our drumming host, Nee was brilliant. He mesmerised 35 children immediately with his engaging manner and kept complete order at all times and allowed the kids to go bonkers at the right time on those amazing drums. It’s one of the best parties we’ve ever had and suitable for all ages. Thank you so much African Drumming, my daughter, Sophia had an absolute ball!
Debbie – Team Building, Medicare Local.
Just want to pass on our thanks to Jeremy and team for their African Drumming workshop on Tuesday night. Jeremy was very engaging and quickly built rapport with a big crowd. He also linked it well with one of the key themes of the event – launch of our values framework and working together. All staff loved the activity and their mini djembes.
Madelin McGrath – Uniting Aged Care
The dance sessions were a great success. Had everyone (management, staff and visitors) up and dancing in the winter sunshine. The performance was outside and the wind howled on that day, but it was sunny. Some of our elderly visitors preferred to watch from the warmth of the living room, through the glass. I look forward to booking them again in the future.
Jenny – Beginners Drumming Class
I have found African Drumming to be great fun as it gives me the opportunity to join together with a diverse group of people for a common purpose. It can be both personally challenging and a relaxing diversion from my regular lifestyle. Going to weekly Community Classes exercises my mind, engages my spirit and opens an avenue for learning about another culture.
Alan Kirkman – Grade Five Teacher, Heathdale Christian College
Since first discovering African Drumming at a teacher seminar I have grown to love the simplicity and subtlety of the Djembe. I have my own beautiful 14” Ghana Djembe and have gradually built up my own set of 10” djembes for use with my Grade Five class. This size is very suitable for this age-group. I have found that by including a few of the higher quality Ghana djembes with the more economical Indonesian drums, we achieve a much better ensemble sound. I have now added a pair of Stumpy Duns, some bells and Kis Kas. In the two years that I have been using my drums, I have yet to suffer a breakage, and I look forward to may years of introducing young people to the joys of ensemble.
Clare – Sydney MONTESSORI School
Workshop was excellent by all accounts, students had a great time and the teacher was impressed with both Tim’s skill and how he handled the students. We are looking forward to the next session!
Lynne Wilson – President, Little Doers Inc.
On behalf of the Little Doers team we wanted to really thank Sessi Sessi for helping to make our event such a success. Over 300 children ran, raising $30,000 for their 4 charities. The drumming really added to the atmosphere of the day and heightened the excitement of both young and old alike! Many people commented that the African drummers were such a great addition to the morning, making the event so much fun. Due to the success of the event, we plan on holding it again next year!
I just want to let you know that I’ve always been more satisfied with the products you’ve sent us, and you’ve always looked after my queries and orders even when you were overseas and busy doing workshops..legend!
Products arrived on time, safely and very securely wrapped (what a pro!).
And for all this years of being a gentleman… THANK YOU!
