About the Shells
Ghana Stumpy dunun are carved from African Twenaboa (Cordia millenii). Twenaboa is a medium density timber, lighter in weight than hardwoods. Comes in different shades from white through to yellow and red.Super portable, great bass and general tonal range.
About the Hide
Cow skins are what give dunun their rich, powerful voice. Over time they will mellow, adding lots of melody do the dunun’s sound. Cow skin is typically a lot thicker than goat, offering rich melodic sounds. We take care to find the best hide for the shell to maximise its dynamic range.
