Terms

  • All prices include GST.
  • The purchaser must make payment within 3 days of purchase.
  • Orders will be dispatched as soon as possible upon payment being received – typically the same/next day.
  • We use 3 different courier/posting services – so we will always find the best price for shipping.
  • While all care is taken, any errors or omissions in product details are unintentional.
  • We reserve the right of discretion in assessing returned items.

Australian Customers

Orders are dispatched via either Australia Post, TNT couriers or Northline couriers from our premises in Melbourne.

Estimated delivery time: 2 – 5 business days.

Express Post
Estimated delivery time:  next business day.

Please note: As per AusPost regulations, special delivery instructions cannot be accepted.

Yes – we ship worldwide!

Sea Mail
Low cost option intended for heavier items up to 20kg, when speed is not a priority.
Estimated delivery time: 2-3 month to zones 4, 6, 7 and 8

Airmail
Standard delivery service for items up to 20kg.
Estimated delivery time : 3-10 business day delivery to metropolitan areas of major cities.

Express Post International
Fast service for items up to 20kg.
Estimated delivery time : 3-7 business day delivery to metropolitan areas of major cities.

Plus Sized Items

Plus sized items, such as large masks and dogon doors, will be sent via courier. These special items need special attention; we’ll work out the courier details and cost together.

HOW DO I MAKE A PURCHASE FROM THE AFRICAN DRUMMING ONLINE SHOP?

The easiest way is to:

Follow the prompts in our online shop

– visit our  SHOP  252 St Kilda Rd, St Kilda, 3182.

– click on the blue “Contact us” (ONLINE CHAT FUNCTION) link at the bottom right hand corner of the page and let us know how you would like to pay.

If you are in Australia, we accept credit card or direct deposit. If paying via direct deposit we will respond to your query with our bank details. If you require postage, please include your address in the message so we can provide you with a quote.
For customers outside Australia we accept credit card (provided you can prove your identity) or PayPal (with a 3% surcharge).

IS YOUR WEBSITE UP TO DATE?

Our stock database interfaces directly with the website. It is updated instantly with every item in & out!

ONLINE SHOP HOURS?

Our Online team is available to speak with you Monday through Friday 9am to 3:30pm. You can always contact us via our website anytime.

WHAT ARE THE ONLINE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

ORDERS

HOW DO I TRACK MY ORDER?

You can use Australian Post tracking website here.

CAN I CHANGE MY ORDER?

In the event that you need to change or cancel an order, please call us immediately on 03 9525 3073 or email [email protected] with your request. If your order has not been packed for shipment, we will do everything possible to make the changes you request. Our goal is to fully process your order within a few hours of receiving it, so changes may not be possible.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER?

We pride ourselves on same day shipping for orders placed before 3pm. You’ll have the option of choosing either Express Post (usually next day delivery) or Standard Post. Check the  AusPost website calculator  for shipping times specific to your post code.

CAN I RETURN MY ORDER?

Please refer to our drum warranty.

WHAT IF MY ORDER IS DAMAGED WHEN IT ARRIVES?

We use Australian Post and a courier for over sized items.

Students: Hire & Rent-to-Own Djembes

Practising between classes is an integral part of learning to play the djembe. We offer hire drums to all of our students to make life a little easier.

Rental fee: $20 per week.

In the highly likely event that you fall in love with your djembe we can help make it official with our Rent to Own plan. If you decide to buy the drum you’ve been renting, we’ll deduct the amount you’ve paid in hire fees from the total cost of the drum.

Drums from our Second Hand, Indo, Ghana, Special and Primo Series are available for pick up from our St Kilda Studio.

CAN I BUY SECOND HAND ITEMS?

Yes but only DRUMS.

DO YOU HAVE LAY BUY?

We offer a three month lay-by with a minimum 10% deposit.
We can do credit card over the phone or direct deposit. You can also come into the store any time.

DO YOU SELL GIFT VOUCHERS?

Yes but only for Classes which can be bought Online and in store.

At the moment we are offering single and 6 weeks African Drumming class vouchers only.

 

WARRANTY

WHAT IS YOUR WARRANTY ON ITEMS?

All of our African hand drums are covered under our 5 Month Graduated Warranty – this includes all djembes, dunun and kpalago.

What Isn’t Covered?

What is not covered under warranty? Breakage caused by irresponsible use or accidental damage caused by the customer (like an axe through the hide or dropping from height).

We reserve the right of discretion when assessing the condition of returned drums.

The African Drumming Guarantee.

Drumming is our passion. We value the drums we craft and the customers who buy them – it’s what our business is centred around.

Beyond our warranty, we’re only happy when you’re happy. If there is anything amiss with your drum then we are only a call or an email away.
We can always make it right!

DO YOU HAVE A WARRANTY ON SECOND HAND ITEMS?

The drums in this Series are a little rough around the edges but still have beautiful music to give. You’ll find a range of djembes here: some are pre-loved, others are new but have imperfections. We always describe why the drum has been listed in this category; their flaws are usually cosmetic or just the result of being used. As with all of our drums, they undergo careful inspection to ensure that there is no damage that would affect the drums structural integrity. These djembes are covered under our standard warranty so you can purchase with confidence, knowing that we still love the preloved and stand by them!

Trams run right outside our store – We’re stop 33, past St Kilda Junction. Simply jump on at Flinders St Station – take the 67 or the 3 tram (15-30 minutes journey time from the city depending on traffic conditions)
