The conga, also known as tumbadora, is a tall, narrow, single-headed drum from Cuba. Congas are traditionally used in pairs or threes in Afro-Cuban genres such as conga and rumba, although they are now very common in some other forms of Latin music, including descarga, Afro-Cuban jazz, salsa, songo, merengue and Latin rock.

Bongo and Conga tuning tips conga tuning tips
Tuning opposites is they key!
1. Using your tuning key/ wrench, tighten one nut a ¾ rotation.
2. Next, tune the nut that is opposite it.
3. Then move along one nut and tune it, followed by the nut opposite again.
In other words, we don’t tune each nut moving around in a circle.
This technique helps pull the head down evenly and will give your drum the best possible sound.
