It’s DUN time with Laura Kirkwood’s Dun Workshop Series

 

Laura is presenting a three class series focusing on the traditional Hamanah style of playing. ie With the 3 different sized duns on their side and using one hand with a bell.
The sessions are designed for people with some dun experience: Intermediate / more advanced players looking to improve control, dexterity and rhythmic knowledge.
The classes will prepare students for a performance opportunity at Tribalism on Friday 5th April
**Please note students are not obliged to perform, so please still come along to class if you can not make the concert for any reason.

These special classes will cover:

*Overview of various styles of playing, Ballet and Traditional
*Group dynamics and one-on-one adjustments.
*Provide students with the basic tools for:
– Independence
– Timing
– Dynamics (bell and stick striking)
– Stick technique
– Rudiments
The class will focus on a 4/4 rhythm and there will be jam/ improv opportunities too.

Dates:
Sundays 24/3, 31/3 @11-1pm and Thursday 4/4 @6 -8pm (a day before Tribalism)
Teacher: Laura Kirkwood
Cost: $90 to be paid at the first session (or $35 for the first class only. We can’t accept participants for the 2nd or 3rd class if they miss the first class, as this will disrupt the flow)
