African Drumming Classes for Special Needs Groups

Disabilities Groups

We have extensive experience working with children and adults with all kinds of disabilities. Whether it be a one off treat for your team or an ongoing long term program.

Everyone will have a drum to play and we will bring lots of other shakers.

We can also offer a little African dance if some of the particpants are keen.

We focus on making the workshops as inclusive as possible, allowing participants to freely express themselves and have lots of fun.

Contact us to discuss a suitable structure for your session.

Past Clients include:

Aged Care Facilities

A great way to bring a group together in a fun filled session where everyone can participate and make wonderful music.

Particularly popular with Grandparents and Grandchildren open days where eveyone plays together.

Group Therapy

Do you work with children or adolescents who are socially challenged?

We have devised special programs to cater for clients with different backgrounds.

We focus on connecting people though the medium of drumming and getting them to work harmoniously together. It's all about integration and connection.
We have had great results in Juvenile Justice and Remand Centres.

Benefits

Promoting cooperation rather than competition within .
As an effective communication tool, drumming helps people realise their own contribution to the whole. It highlights that everyone's input, no matter how small, can make a marked difference to the success of a group.

Encouraging personal development.
Anyone can beat on a drum, giving participants a great sense of competence, which in turn enhances self-esteem.

Building team bonds and confidence.
Motivation will increase through sharing creativity and listening to one another. Confidence in ones self and in each other is strengthened which in return will heighten trust and mutual respect.

Breaking down social barriers.
Drumming is an effective icebreaker for bringing employees closer together and instills cooperation by removing, race, gender and age barriers.

Celebrating group success and synergy.
By successfully playing rhythms together, groups develop a powerful synergy and sense of unity.

Increasing immediate and sustained general well-being, happiness and energy levels.
Drumming enables the participant to disengage from mental activity and brings participants 100% into the present moment, which gives a great deal of relief from mental stress and allows better focus and clarity.

Stress Release.
The physical benefits leave the body feeling invigorated but relaxed. At the same time a meditative experience is had which helps clear the mind of everyday stress and leaves the individual receptive to new ideas and challenges.
