Djembe Warranty

African Drumming values the drums that we make and the customers that buy them.

Skin breakages are a natural function of having a drum — all skins eventually break. Each skin has its own life force and its own history — some may last 4 years, others 6 months or less.

Generally speaking, if a skin is going to break prematurely it will happen in the first 6 months. With this in mind, African Drumming offers the following warranty on our drums.

If skin breakage occurs within:

Drum Maintenance

Don’t crank your drum too fast or too much!

Please respect your drum and learn how to correctly tune it. Over-tuning is the most common cause of skins breaking. Skins are elastic and need to be slowly “played in”.

When our drums leave the shop they will only require one or two knots occasionally as the skin stretches. The older the skin, the fewer the knots required.

Also, keep your drum away from harsh, humid conditions, direct sunlight and places without ventilation, such as the boot of a car.
