A 9 day Drum camp on the serene island of Bali in Indonesia. You will be treated to a great location, wonderful food and culture at this intensive for Intermediate and Advanced drummers. Expect 5 - 6 hours of drumming per day with two different classes, opportunities to swim, snorkel, hike, practice yoga and relax under the palms ..... escape the winter blues and take your drumming to a new level under the tutelage of Master Drummers Simon Fraser & Bouba Gaye from Senegal.

I have travelled to Bali several times and since I started a business there over two years ago I knew it would be a great location for an intensive. I will bring all the experience i have garnered from 6 African tours I have run in Ghana and I promise an amazing feast for the senses and a challenging and fun series of workshops.
I am excited about our guest teacher Bouba from Senegal, joining us for the inaugral camp. Bouba is a wonderful character and drummer and a high energy teacher and performer


Bouba and I guarantee to unlock many secrets for you in relation to soloing. Many intermediate and advanced students tell me they find a blockage when it comes to phrasing their solos. We will show you a great system for putting the words together to make sentences paragraphs and stories with your drum language!

You can also expect great food and culture, beaches, swimming, snorkling and yoga. There'll also be a couple of excursions and live performances.

Classes

Intensive drumming tuition for Intermediate (at least 3 months experience prefered) and Advanced levels. There will be two seperate classes running morning and afternoon .The final session of the day will include a guided group Jam where we all drum together.

Our focus will be on polyrhythmic drumming with an emphasis on djembe, duns, singing and bells. We will work on:

• Rhythms from Mali, Guinea, Senegal
• Technique
• Soloing and taking lead in the music
• Dexterity and independence
• Endurance & performance techniques

* Simon & Bouba will be supported by local musicians on Dun Dun. Local Balinese drummers and travellers are also welcome to join the tour.
